Mussels are bivalve mollusks. Most of the invertebrates of the class Bivalvia are called "mussels" and some are called oysters.
Mussel shells are dark blue-black in color and oval in shape. It is one of the easiest to prepare seafood. Mussels are a source of protein. It is also a source of omega 3 fatty acids, zinc and folate. Its daily consumption is more than the recommended amount of selenium, iodine and iron.
Mussels can be served with pasta or rice. It can be added to soups, seafood dishes. It can be consumed with vegetables such as leeks, mushrooms or potatoes. It also goes well with white wine sauce or tomato sauce.
