What is Sangria?

Sangria is the wine cocktail of Spain. There are several variations of sangria. Usually wine and orange juice are used in every recipe. The color of sangria depends on the wine. Red sangria is made with red wine; white sangria is made with white wine.

Orange juice is the most preferred ingredient in sangria recipes. Orange, pineapple, peach, apple or pear are preferred as fruit. Sugar, agave or maple syrup are preferred as sweeteners. Club soda or champagne is used to add bubbles to the cocktail. Brandy, cognac or liqueur are also used to make this cocktail.

What Wine Is Best For Sangria?

When choosing a wine for sangria, make sure that it is a good and delicious wine when drunk alone. The best red wine for sangria is a dry, fruity wine with good acidity and low tannin.

For white sangria, a dry, crisp white wine like Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, or Riesling works best.

Sangria is classically made with Spanish wine. The most well-known of these is Rioja. Also, Garnacha, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are also ideal for making sangria.
