Tips

  • Use ingredients at room temperature.
  • Make sure you measure the flour correctly. Use a kitchen scale or measuring cup for this. If using a measuring cup, fluff the flour with a spoon. Then put it in the measuring cup and flatten it with a knife.
  • Use vegetable oil such as canola oil, palm oil, or soybean oil.
  • You can use whole milk instead of buttermilk. Milk makes the waffle crispy.
  • Make sure you warm up the waffle maker well. This prevents the waffle batter from sticking to the pan. If the machine is cold, the waffle stays wet and soft.
  • To make sure the waffle maker is warm, preheat it for at least five minutes before you start making waffles. If you drop some water on it, if it sizzles and evaporates, it's hot.
  • Put the waffles in the oven for extra crispiness. Preheat the oven to 250 °F (120 °C). Place the cooling rack on the baking tray. Arrange the waffles that you cooked in the waffle maker in a single row on the baking tray. Transfer to the oven and heat for a few minutes.
