Tips

  • Use ingredients at room temperature.
  • Soak the lentils. Rinse the yellow lentils under cold water and cook according to the package directions. Then drain and rinse under cold water.
  • You can also use red lentils instead of yellow lentils.
  • Make sure you measure the flour correctly. Use a kitchen scale or measuring cup for this. If using a measuring cup, fluff the flour with a spoon. Then put it in the measuring cup and flatten it with a knife.
  • To make the recipe gluten-free, use spelt flour or gluten-free flour instead of white flour.
  • Use vegetable oils such as canola oil, palm oil, and soybean oil.
  • Make sure you warm up the waffle maker well. This prevents the waffle batter from sticking to the pan. If the machine is cold, the waffle stays wet and soft.
  • To make sure the waffle maker is warm, preheat it for at least five minutes before you start making waffles. Drop some water on it, if it sizzles and evaporates, it's hot.
  • Grease the waffle iron to prevent the waffles from sticking. This prevents the waffle from sticking. It also makes it crunchy.
  • If you don't have a waffle maker, you can make it in a toaster or skillet.
  • If the dough is too runny, add a few more tablespoons of flour. If the dough is too thick, add a little more water.
  • Do not overmix the dough. Mix all ingredients together until combined to make light and fluffy waffles. If there are too many lumps, let the dough rest for 10 minutes to dissolve.
  • Put the waffles in the oven for extra crispiness. Preheat the oven to 250 °F (120 °C). Place the cooling rack on the baking tray. Arrange the waffles you cooked in the waffle maker in a single row on the baking tray. Transfer to the oven and heat for a few minutes.
