Tips

  • Always use extra firm tofu for this recipe. Moreover, press the tofu to get rid of excess water. Otherwise, the baked tofu will become soggy.
  • If you don’t have cornstarch, you can use arrowroot starch or tapioca starch as well. These two ingredients are plant-based and give the same result.
  • You can adjust the flavors according to your taste. You can use fresh or dried Italian herbs to season the tofu. Moreover, you can also use spice mix like jerk seasoning or curry powder to add flavor to your homemade baked tofu.
  • You can also use olive oil instead of avocado oil.
  • Cut the tofu into equal cubes so that they cook evenly.
  • If you don’t have an oven, you can bake tofu in an air fryer as well.
  • Don't forget to flip the tofu pieces to get perfect results and even cook.

  4. Add corn starch, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
  5. Sprinkle this mixture over tofu and toss so that every piece gets a coat.
  6. Place the tofu cubes on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 400 °F for about 30 minutes.
  8. Flip the tofu pieces after 15 minutes so that they are cooked evenly.

How To Store Baked Tofu?

Before you store baked tofu, make sure you let it cool down and reach room temperature. Place it in an air-tight container and refrigerate. It will last for up to 5 days. When storing baked tofu, make sure you don't store it in any sauce, or it won't stay crispy and will turn soggy.

You can also store baked tofu by freezing it. Once it is cool enough, place it on a tray and flash freeze for about 4 hours. Take the tray out of the freezer and transfer the tofu to a freezer-safe container or plastic zip lock bag. Freeze for up to 3 months.
