Tips

  • Use ingredients at room temperature. Take the egg, butter, and milk-based ingredients out of the refrigerator at least an hour before to bring them to room temperature. In this way, the cake will have an even texture. Otherwise, the tart dough may clump together.
  • You can use any type of cheese. For more, you can check out our "Types of Cheeses" article.
  • You can prepare the crust yourself or buy it ready-made.
  • To make quiche crust at home, mix 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, and a pinch of salt in a food processor. Add 1-2 tablespoons of cold water and knead the dough. Press the dough into a 23-cm tart mold using your fingers or a rolling pin. Cut off the edges and pierce the bottom of the crust with a fork.
  • Bake the crust in a blind oven before adding the filling.
  • Partially cook the quiche base first. This will help prevent the crust from blistering or getting wet.
  • Saute ingredients that take longer to cook, such as potatoes or onions, before adding them to the quiche. This helps remove excess moisture and intensify flavors.
  • Grate and dry the vegetables before adding them to the quiche. If you add vegetables with high water content, such as quiche, zucchini, and tomatoes, the quiche may become wet. To avoid this, grate the vegetables or dry them with a towel.
  • Do not overmix the filling materials. This can make the quiche stiff and rubbery. Gently fold the ingredients together until combined.
  • Don't overcook the quiche. Otherwise, the quiche may be dry.
  • After removing the quiche from the oven, allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • You can add fresh herbs or spices, such as basil or thyme.
