Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 ℉. Brush a baking sheet with olive oil after lining it with parchment paper. You may also use a 13-inch pizza pan and cover the bottom with a parchment circle.
  2. Place the cauliflower florets in a food processor and whir them until they have a rice-like texture.
  3. Mix the eggs, kosher salt, garlic powder, and oregano together in a medium mixing bowl. Toss in the riced cauliflower and blend with a rubber spatula.
  4. Transfer the mixture to the middle of the prepared baking sheet and push it into a thin 13-inch circle with the spatula. Try to spread it out so that it's all the same thickness, and don't let the borders get too thin or they'll burn.
  5. Bake the crust for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and firm (the edges may be carefully pulled off the baking sheet without the circle coming apart).
  6. Preheat the oven to 175°C. Remove the baking tray from the oven. Spread the tomato sauce on the dough with the help of a spatula, if you want. Grate the cheese on top. You can certainly add extra sauces at this stage, but be careful not to add too much if you don't want the edges to be mushy.
  7. Return the pizza to the oven and broil for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is foaming and browned in areas. Remove from the oven and cut into eight slices with a pizza cutter. Serve with fresh basil and tomatoes warm.

Tips

  • To make the pizza crust more crispy, you can use a pizza stone instead of a baking tray.
  • You can use any type of cheese for this pizza. For this, check out our post ‘Best Cheeses for Pizza’.
  • Keep the toppings to a minimum. This crust isn't as tough as the usual one. If you pile on too many toppings, it will turn mushy and floppy. So go easy on the toppings.
  • When it comes to heating up the toppings, don't be scared to bake the crust until the edges appear nearly charred. That's how you get a delicious, crispy crust.

How To Freeze And Store Cauliflower Pizza?

Of course, the first step is to make the cauliflower pizza crusts. Here are the steps to freeze it:

  1. Place the crusts in the oven and bake them as if you were creating the entire pizza.
  2. Allow for room temperature cooling of the cooked cauliflower crusts.
  3. Place the crusts on a baking sheet and slip them into the freezer to "flash freeze" them once they are totally cold. Don't rush this since any heat will induce condensation and result in a mushy thawed crust. This produces frozen crusts that are easy to package and do not cling together.
  4. Remove the cauliflower crusts from the freezer when they are completely frozen.
  5. Gently wrap each crust in plastic wrap, making sure that all of the surfaces are covered.
  6. Place the pizza crusts in big freezer-safe bags after they are all wrapped. This can be done one at a time or in batches according to the size of the bag.
  7. Remove as much air as possible, label the container, and store it in the freezer.
  8. Any leftover pizza should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–4 days. Simply reheat in the microwave or oven to keep it crispy.

Is Cauliflower Pizza Healthy?

Cauliflower pizza has a lot of health benefits and is an excellent source of vegetables. It also includes unique plant components that may lower the risk of a variety of ailments, including cancer and heart disease. Most of its benefit is from the major ingredient, cauliflower. The following are some of the health benefits:

  • Cauliflower is a heart-healthy food because of a plant ingredient called sulforaphane. By acting as an antioxidant, sulforaphane decreases the inflammatory damage induced by oxidative stress, a process that plays a key part in the development of heart disease by acting as an antioxidant. As a result, it aids in the reduction of blood pressure and atherosclerosis.
  • Choline, a crucial nutrient for mood, memory, and recall, is found in cauliflower. As a result, it's an important component of acetylcholine, a chemical messenger that aids communication in the central nervous system. Choline is also required for proper brain growth.
  • Indole-3-carbinol (I3C) is a plant chemical found in cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower that functions as a plant estrogen and may help balance hormones by controlling estrogen levels. Although more research is needed in this area, I3C has shown promise in lowering the risk of estrogen-induced breast and reproductive malignancies in both men and women.
  • Because cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower are high in sulfur, they may help to enhance gastrointestinal health and, as a result, your immune system. This is because sulfur promotes the formation of glutathione, which is necessary for preserving the integrity and regeneration of the gut lining. Glutathione acts throughout the body as an antioxidant, protecting cells from inflammatory damage.
