Tips

  • Use ingredients at room temperature.
  • Use old-fashioned rolled oats.
  • Measure the flour correctly. You can use a kitchen scale or measuring cup to measure the flour. Flatten the flour with the back of the knife. In this way, you can make more accurate measurements. Otherwise, too much flour can make the cookie dough hard.
  • You can use whole wheat flour or gluten-free flour instead of all-purpose flour. For more, check out our 'Types of Flours' article.
  • Avoid over-mixing the ingredients. Do not mix the ingredients too much after adding the flour. Otherwise, the dough will harden.
  • Use brown sugar to add a caramelized flavor. If you wish, you can use half brown sugar and half white sugar. This keeps the cookie crispy on the edges and moist and chewy on the inside.
  • Refrigerate the cookie dough. Let the dough rest for at least 30 minutes before baking.
  • Line the baking tray with parchment paper. The parchment paper makes it easy to remove the cookies.
  • Make sure you don't overcook the dough. Otherwise, the dough will harden.
